Ireland: Tributes flood in for Cebo

Former Racingman Simon Sebo, winner of the tournament with Ireland in 2015, has announced his retirement at the end of the season. And the tributes are pouring in.

The zigzags of the “Z” will soon be history. At the age of 34, Munster icon Simon Zebo has announced on social networks that he is ending his career at the end of the 2023-24 financial year. “After much thought, I have decided that I would like this season to be my last game. It has been a dream come true, with all the memories and lifelong friends and traveling the world with incredible people. A big thank you to my family, friends, teammates, coaches and supporters, none of this would have been possible without you.. I loved every second of it, it was crazy and I can't wait to see what happens next“, wrote this Antoine Dupont fan.

Very popular with Irish supporters

Born in Cork to a Martinican father and an Irish mother, the roving winger or full-back has electrified crowds and defied defenses throughout his career. He has only shown disloyalty to his lifelong club Munster, who holds the record for tries (72 in 173 matches) over three seasons at Racing (2018-2021). Despite losing in the final of the European Cup, Seebo left behind fond memories at the Île-de-France club. Gayle Fickou and many of his teammates did not fail to welcome his retirement announcement. Capped 35 times for Ireland and winning the tournament in 2015, he was also very popular with supporters of the XV du Trèfle. Many are paying tribute to him on social networks, as are the big names in world rugby Like South Africans Ziya Kolisi and Brian Habana, or Australian Quad Cooper, but the British Lions…
