“President (Joe Biden) A strong supporter of the two-state solution and has been throughout his career,” CNN quoted a spokesperson for the National Security Council as saying.

“He believes that the Palestinian state must be created through direct negotiations between the parties concerned, not through unilateral recognition.”The spokesman added.

On Wednesday 22 May, the governments of Norway, Ireland and Spain announced in separate statements that they would recognize the Palestinian Authority, a decision welcomed by the Palestinian Presidency. But in response, Israel recalled its ambassadors to these three countries.

Joe Biden spoke about his administration on Sunday (May 19) at a Morehouse College graduation ceremony in Atlanta, Georgia. “We were working to ensure that we finally achieve a two-state solution, the only solution that allows both peoples to live in peace, security and dignity.”

“This is one of the most difficult and complex problems in the world“, he added.
