Green, green, green are all her colors – and Duchess Kate let her outfit do the talking during a visit to neighboring Ireland. The visit will not be easy for members of the British royal family.

Dublin – Ireland is also known as the “Emerald Isle”. Duchess Kate and Prince William are currently in the neighboring country – their first visit. It's not an easy visit for members of the British royal family: Ireland hasn't been under British rule for centuries. The Northern Ireland conflict continued into the late 1990s, when William's uncle Louis Mountbatten, who was particularly close to Prince Charles, was assassinated by the IRA in 1979.

More news from the Royals

The visit to Cambridge is also seen as a special sign of reconciliation between the two countries. In 2011, Queen Elizabeth II visited the Republic of Ireland for the first time – 100 years after her grandfather, King George V.

The visit comes at a pivotal time in relations between the states: Great Britain left the European Union on January 31.

Royals often let their clothes do the talking

A journey with multiple symbolic powers. Befitting the occasion, Kate and William let their outfits do the talking. The royal family often matches their wardrobe to the region they are visiting. They are happy to dress in national colors – a friendly gesture to their hosts.

While Prince William stuck to a green tie, his wife relied entirely on the color of hope: the Duchess of Cambridge stepped onto Irish soil in a green dress, matching coat, high heels and clutch. In the evening, at an obligatory appointment at the Guinness Brewery in Dublin, Kate wore a dress in a metallic green tone, which bloggers from “What Kate Wore” recognized as “The Vampire's Wife” label design.
