After spending three years under the saddle of Belgian rider Gregory Wathelet, Cocktail de Talma (Baloubet du Route) is switching saddles, Talma’s stud farm announced in a press release. The chestnut was acquired by Belgian merchant Karel Cox on behalf of one of his Irish clients, whose name has not yet been released.
Bred at Haras de Talma with Michael Guiot, he is out of Reggae de Talma (Cento), one of the top five broodmares in the world with racing age product. Accredited by the Celle Francais stud-book thanks to his performances on the young horse circuit, Cocktail has enjoyed a remarkable rise to the top under the saddle of Gregory Vathelet. In 2021, he won two consecutive CSI2* at St Tropez, before finishing sixth and ninth at the CSI5* Grands Prix in Stockholm and Valkensvaard. This year, he finished ninth in the Longines Grand Prix of Equita Leon. As for his breeding career, he currently has forty-two products registered in France, the oldest of which will be five years old in 2023. As well as supplying France Etalons, cocktail semen will also be available from Karel Cox.
