Apple Inc has launched a beta program to enable 5G on Apple devices, where the upgrade allows users to test pre-release software.
This software update allows 5G access on Apple devices, while service providers Jio, Airtel and Vodafone will also allow access to 5G networks, sources said.
Apple users must register for the beta program on the website, install a profile and download the software.
Jio users using iPhone 12 and above in cities where JioTrue5G has launched will be invited to the Jio Welcome Show. Jio’s welcome offer gives users unlimited 5G data at speeds of up to 1 Gbps at no extra cost. However, there is a condition that prepaid users should use 239 and above plans. All postpaid users are eligible for this trial. Airtel does not offer 5G special offers to its users like Jio. In cities/regions where Airtel’s 5G network has been launched, users can try 5G services as part of their existing plan after the latest Apple Beta software update.
While an email to Apple did not seek an immediate response, the company said last month: “We are working with our carrier partners in India to test the network and test quality and performance to deliver the best 5G experience to iPhone users. . . it’s over. 5G will be enabled during a software update and will be available to iPhone users in December.
