In Belgrade, the Moon will touch the Sun at 11:22 and leave the Sun’s disc at 1:38. In the middle of the eclipse, less than half the diameter of the Sun is covered.

The eclipse will last longest in Russia in western Siberia, where 82 percent of the Sun’s path is covered.

For eye safety, the eclipse should be observed through special solar eclipse glasses, welding equipment protective glass (density above 14), or good, double-sided tempered glass.

With appropriate filters, it is safe to observe a projection of the sun’s image on white paper either through an optical device or directly.

If it is clear, those interested can observe the phenomenon from the terrace of the National Observatory in Kalemegdan, the announcement said.

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon covers part or all of the Sun as it orbits the Earth. There are total, partial and partial solar eclipses.

Nature has given that the apparent intersections of the Sun and the Moon are tilted by about half a degree. Although the Moon is very small, about 400 times a transit from the Sun, it is 400 times closer to Earth.

As the Earth and Moon move in elliptical orbits, the apparent sizes of the Sun and Moon change.

That is why sometimes it happens that when these three bodies are in a straight line, the moon cannot completely cover the sun, so we have an annular eclipse of the sun, sometimes it is enough to cover it completely, so we speak. A total, i.e. total eclipse of the Sun.

When these three bodies are not on the same line, but close to it, we speak of a partial eclipse of the Sun.

Totally viewed from Earth, there can be two to five solar eclipses in a year, including zero to three lunar eclipses.

Regardless of the number of eclipses of the Sun, the notification states that they will be more visible from the same location on Earth than the Moon.
