Bengaluru: It has been reported that the ‘Mangalyan’ satellite, which was conducting research in the orbit of Mars, has stopped working after running out of fuel and batteries.

The Mangalyaan satellite built by the Indian Space Agency ‘ISRO’ was launched on November 5, 2013 by a PSLVC 25 rocket to study the planet Mars. On September 24, 2014, it entered Mars’ orbit on its first attempt. The cost of the project is Rs 450 crore.

The Mangalyaan satellite, which has been conducting various research missions on Mars for the past eight years, has run out of fuel and batteries, officials said. Subsequently, Mangalyaan is said to have ended its eight-year journey. ISRO has not made an official announcement regarding this.

An ISRO official said that the Mangalyaan satellite, which was designed to operate in just six months, has operated longer than expected and provided us with a lot of useful information.
