At least seven children were killed in one or more explosions in the north of the country

Seven children died and two were seriously injured on the night of July 9-10 in the Savanna region on the Benin-Burkina Faso border, not far from Pendjari Park and the Palma Reserve. In this region, armed groups regularly carry out attacks, there have been armed attacks on the Burkinabe and Beninese side, and in recent weeks, on the Togolese side. Are these children victims of terrorism or wrongdoing? Now, we don’t really know what happened.

The disaster occurred in Natigou, in the northeastern part of Ton prefecture in the Savannah region. The children were found dead on bicycles while returning from the ball late at night.

Confusion still lingers over the deaths of these children, aged between 10 and 15. Several local witnesses testified that they heard two explosions during the night, similar to personnel mines. When they arrived at the scene, the bodies of the children, who could not be identified, were lying on the ground.

Other sources claim that the children were hit by fire from a flying machine.

Whether it was the explosion of an improvised device or a shot from a drone, it is impossible for the time being to know what happened tonight. But the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces indicated in a press release that an investigation has been opened to clarify the circumstances of the blast and identify the perpetrators.

It asked people in the area to avoid non-essential night travel in order to respect the security emergency imposed after the last armed attack in the Savanna region.
