A few days before the Genesis Scottish Open, a tournament sanctioned by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, and the British Open a week later, many of the world’s best players will be in Ireland this week for the JP McManus Pro. – Am. Players are paired with three amateurs for two rounds at the Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort.

Sander Schaffel continues his momentum with a 64 (-8) and a card of eight birdies, in good form over the last few weeks. Despite prestigious victories on the PGA Tour and performances at the Ryder Cup, Xander Schauffele has never won a major tournament, his best finish being a podium at the 2019 Masters, 2.

He is three strokes ahead of Rickie Fowler. Tyrell Hatton finished third with a -4 card.

The Irish are fourth with Shane Lowry and Seamus Power returning -3 cards.

2022 PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas and Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy are tied for 12th with -1 cards.

Tiger Woods’ return after several weeks off will be a tough day despite some strokes of genius. After a difficult opening round at +5, Tiger notches his first birdie on the 10th, then returns a chip for eagle on the par-5 12th hole. He returns to the clubhouse with a card of 77 (+5), 43. In the standing.

One player, a bit stunned, unfortunately couldn’t sign his card. Three-time major winner Jordan Spieth must have forgotten the rules of the competition. Playing with his amateur partners, the former world number one took his ball on the 14th hole thinking that his score had not been calculated: however, he had forgotten the individual professional ranking! So this mistake disqualified him from the individual classification, but his team still competes in the team classification.
