AMD has shared new details about the RDNA 3 architecture that underlies the Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards.

As reported, the new architecture will allow the GPU to increase the frequency even more. Current Navi GPUs already operate at frequencies above 2 GHz, with some frequencies exceeding 2.8 GHz. Perhaps, it’s worth noting that some newer generation GPUs can cross the 3 GHz border outside the box. But it is not yet known exactly how high the frequencies of the new GPUs will be.

AMD said the new architecture will offer innovative ray tracing capabilities. It is not clear what they contain, but in general we can expect increased performance and better optimization, so that the disadvantages of activating the associated effects in games are small.

The company also confirmed support for the AV1 codec, DisplayPort 2.0 interface, 5nm process technology, advanced GPU packaging, graphics pipeline optimization, next-generation Infinity cache, and 50% better power efficiency than RDNA 2.

At the same time, data on the configuration of new GPUs remains controversial. AMD itself has not said anything about it, and the rumors are constantly changing.
