This Saturday, June 4, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Countess of Wessex were sent on a mission to the four corners of the United Kingdom. While Prince William and Catherine were in Wales with their two children, Prince Edward and Sophie traveled to Northern Ireland with the people to celebrate their Platinum Jubilee.

Prince and Countess of Wessex Celebrate Platinum Jubilee in Northern Ireland
The official Platinum Jubilee celebrations will take place in London from 2 to 5 June 2022, but on Sundays British people across the country are invited to have a big lunch in their community. To ensure that not only the English, but all subjects of her majesty are included in the celebration, Queen Elizabeth sends her successors to the other three countries in the United Kingdom.
On Friday, Princess Ann took charge of celebrating the Platinum Jubilee in Scotland, visiting the Edinburgh Zoo with her husband and Ukrainian orphans. This Saturday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge traveled to Cardiff Castle with the Welsh to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Elizabeth II’s reign. Finally, the Duke and Countess of Wessex traveled to a neighboring island to celebrate the Jubilee of Northern Ireland.

Celebrations on the streets of Belfast with Edward and Sophie in Wessex
Sophie, 57, of Wessex, arrived in Belfast in a ME + EN floral dress, curled her hair, and wore an unusual hairstyle for the Queen’s daughter – in – law. Prince Edward, 58, was at rest when he left the tie in England. Unlike William and Kate, who visited Cardiff at the same time as Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the couple traveled without Lady Louise and James.
During this visit, Queen Elizabeth’s third son and wife attended a celebration on the Royal Avenue in Belfast. Fifty themed street demonstrations took place across the avenue. Edward and Sophie talked to artists and musicians. And they interacted with the people.
Prince Edward and Sophie heard stories from members of the community commemorating 70 years of life in Belfast. The animations were designed to explore different themes such as fashion, photography, music and dance, and their evolution during the reign of Elizabeth II. The workshops allowed the public to make crowns and corsets. The couple attended a dance performance and tasted the local specialty Belfast Bap.
