Irish rugby players go to see high school students

Thanks to Lawrence Cabrick, this meeting was made possible …

The meeting was made possible thanks to Lawrence Cabrique, a high school English teacher. “I was already in touch with Damien Quinn, the manager of the Irish team. When I learned about the competition in Joneszk, I took the opportunity to let our students see them. ⁇

Class ST2S selection

Therefore, on Tuesday afternoon, May 24, the day before the competition, ST2S (Health and Social Sciences and Technologies) has planned a meeting with final year students. “These are students who often do not have the opportunity to work in foreign languages and do not require travel because they are not in the European section. Also, since the bachelorette reform, they have had one hour a week in Medico-Social Science in English. All this confirms our choice, ”the professor explains.

“It helps the students a lot. Above all, they appreciate the excellent availability of the players.

Also, during their school year, they discussed topics related to health and sports. Several themes have been selected for exchange with British academic experts on health, sports, rugby, Irish culture, school and university curriculum. For their part, the Irish introduced one of the most common sports in their country: hurling. This intriguing team sport is played outside with a stick that looks like a large wooden spoon.

Food and then discussions in English

The players, accompanied by their five staff members, arrived at the high school at 12.45pm. Impressive students stayed in their corner for a while at first, but very quickly, were able to transfer between teenagers and young people in their twenties. “I’m invited to be part of the Union Barbezieux Jonzac Rugby Club and eight students in the second and final grades at Jean-Hypolite High School,” Lawrence Cabri explained.
