In July, Samsung Electronics launched the Joint Task Force (TF) for the system semiconductor and smartphone divisions with approximately 1,000 employees. Samsung aims to introduce the first Galaxy-only chip in the Galaxy S25 series by 2025.

The “Galaxy Silicon” must then bypass the “Apple Silicon” chip developed by Apple itself. Although Samsung Electronics is the world leader in memory semiconductors, its competitiveness with processors is limited. The project aims to restore global leadership by securing semiconductor design capabilities and memory semiconductor production technology.

Internally, Samsung’s goal is to “make the chip of their dreams.” The official launch is scheduled for July. The Task Force is led by Business Unit Manager Mobile Experience (MX) Roh Tae-moon and Business Unit Manager System LSI (President) Park Yong-in. Many employees who previously worked in Exynos and the LSI Division will join the Task Force. By the end of the day, the task force will have more than 1,000 people.
