Kovid: More than 500 people have died in Shanghai after new restrictions and the resumption of the epidemic in Beijing, a ghost town.

After Shanghai, the country’s most populous city, which has been restricted since early April, Beijing has been subject to travel restrictions for a week, and many public places (restaurants, cafes, sports halls, gymnasiums, etc.) have been closed.

On Monday, authorities in Chaong, the capital’s busiest and most densely populated district, severely restricted access to essential services, with some businesses limiting their regular workforce to 5%. More generally, the city is desolate due to the implementation of new control measures.

As a result, Sunliton, a busy commercial district in eastern Beijing, was devastated Monday morning. The Belga agency reported that the Apple Store, which is usually very busy, was ordered to close its doors a few minutes after opening.

Beijing on Monday announced 49 new pollution cases in the last 24 hours.

Pollution figures are very low globally, but the authorities are strictly enforcing their Zero Covid policy and restricting entire cities as soon as a few cases appear.

Elsewhere in Shanghai, the number of new pollutants dropped to less than 4,000 on Monday after crossing 25,000 by the end of April.

The current eruption has killed more than 500 people in Shanghai, according to an official report. Since the beginning of the Pandemic, the total number of Chinese has exceeded 5,000.
