STUTTGART – The real joy of sports is this: Despite the Irish national team losing 0: 3 to Belgium on Saturday, Irish fans celebrated their team as if they had won the European Championship.

In many places, especially in Bordeaux, they gathered, sang, and just enjoyed themselves – without riots or violent outbursts. They also won the hearts of many Twitter users on the Internet.

The call “Boys got up in the green” could be heard again and again.

Or in a slightly different way: “Stand up for the French police”.

This fan is going to be crowned King of Bordeaux.

Already in the stadium, Irish fans began to sing the song “Fields of Athenae” again, much to the delight of many listeners. After all, this song is reminiscent of the great famine in Ireland in the 19th century, and was already sung by fans when they lost to Spain in Euro 2012.
