In early March, colleagues gave me several Sberbank smart lamps and their clock column. I forgot about them before the May holidays and had no time to set them up. As it turns out, it’s very useless …
Sberbank has been under siege since the beginning of known events, which has affected many of their services, from banks to smart home. They have been developing this niche for a few years and it is not clear now what its possibilities are.
I tried to add Sber smart lamps in the app, but I kept popping up constantly Strange error. It was also found useful to search for information on the internet – everything is very bad.
On April 15, Sber was released Publication On the device support site with an assistant Fireworks. I quote:
Some users of the Sber smart home platform may encounter in the coming days Connection difficulties Application of the same name to devices with salute assistants and to smart lamps, sockets, LED strips, and sober relays. This is a temporary problem and we are already working on a solution.
Previously connected smart home devices and devices from partner manufacturers work consistently.
We do our best to ensure that users of new devices can easily connect and start using them as quickly as possible.
And so it goes. That is, it turns out that the sanctions affected not only the lights, but also the sockets, LED strips, and relays from the Sberbank.
Sber itself did not provide technical details, but the causes of the crash have already been fixed in a forum:
Sber lamps, as everyone knows, are built on a single platform Yours, But have their own name (identifier). Sberbank, as I understand it, does not have a fully autonomous infrastructure, and their lights (all other devices) are registered in the cloud on Tuya servers. Due to the restrictions, since 04/10/2022, the registration of Sber devices has been disabled and they are accurately calculated by device name, so VPN and others Solutions are not 100% helpfulYou do not have the permission required to post.
Sber has completely stopped selling all of its devices (the rest can still be purchased anywhere) and closed all performance stands.
To solve this problem, Sberbank will have to tweak its own infrastructure with servers, which is lengthy and expensive and it is not clear how it will work. But even if they do succeed, there will be one major limitation (at least for me) – the inability to use lights and other equipment with a home kit, home assistant, and so on.
Of course, Sber has discontinued sales of all affected “smart devices” – they are no longer available in any major store. At the same time, as we found in the same forum, after blocking the light bulbs with 50% discount, some of them are actively sold …
I do not fully understand what these lights do. In general, after this, I will think three times to connect with smart homes. Someone in another country may decide that you do not have the right to use the purchased product, and with a single click they will turn the appliances in the apartment into useless electronic waste.
Hope Sberbank brings something, but so far no good news. According to a support post from April 21:
There are difficulties connecting Sber devices to the smart home platform, which may take longer than we originally planned.
Connects devices from partner manufacturers and works consistently, as well as Sber devices that are already connected. During troubleshooting, we recommend that you do not reconnect your previously added Sber devices to your smart home.
