Minister’s warning rejected; Teachers boycott Plus Two assessment for third day

Published on

Thiruvananthapuram: The teachers boycotted the evaluation of the Plus Two Chemistry examination for the third day in a row, rejecting the warning of the Education Minister. The teachers’ unions are demanding that the deficiencies in the current answer key be rectified.

The struggle is for children. Struggling teachers will not benefit from this. The future of the students will be bleak if they are evaluated according to the current scheme. Students will get A + in all other subjects but will fail the Chemistry exam. Teachers responded that it would completely affect their higher education. The faculty representative added that they are ready to face any action taken in this regard.

The Education Minister had yesterday warned that stern action would be taken if the assessment was not reached. But for the third day in a row, teachers boycotted the assessment, dismissing the warning.

The teachers are protesting against the subversion of the answer scripts prepared with the participation of teachers in all the 14 districts and given to another answer scripts camps. The teachers are of the view that the evaluation will not be done without changing the answer key.

Following the boycott, a show cause notice was issued to 12 teachers who failed to prepare the answer key. The notice said the teachers tried to give students undeserved marks and pointed out serious omissions in official duties. The notice also says that action will be taken if no reply is received within 15 days.
