Claire Foy in “A Very British Scandal”

After a bidding battle, HBO acquired the rights to the best-selling non-fiction book Inside Facebook: The Ugly Truth, written by Sheira Frankel and Cecilia Kang. American Pay TV is embracing the Broadcaster material as a new series project for which “The Crown” veteran Claire Foy could be the leading actress. The miniseries carries the nasty working title of “Doomsday Machine”.
Claire Foy introduces Sheryl Zindberg, Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer. This series seeks to show which political and social mines have passed in order to continue to accelerate the growth of Mark Zuckerberg’s company. In the process, Zindberg and Zuckerberg changed the way billions of people around the world communicate and receive information.
The “Doomsday Machine” is not the only one based on their research New York TimesReporters Frank and Kang, as well as Andrew Marantes, an investigative reporter for the US magazine New Yorker Works. The adaptation is being developed by Ayad Akhtar (“Homeland Elements”), a 2013 Pulitzer Prize-winning author for his play Disgraced. As production studios, Wiip and anonymous content are responsible.
Inside Facebook, launched in the US last year as “An Ugly Truth”, is based on years of research by Sheira Frankel and Cecilia Kang. Among other things, it highlights Facebook’s role in the NSA wiretapping scandal, election rigging, Donald Trump’s election, and the Cambridge Analytics scandal. The authors also want to provide evidence of important agreements that Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Zindberg allegedly made in the backrooms with influential politicians.

Embodied. They previously starred as Queen Elizabeth in two seasons on the Netflix drama The Crown, for which she received an Emmy and a Golden Globe. Foy recently appeared in cinemas in My Son, Conspiracy, and Neil Armstrong biopic Moonwalker.
