New Delhi: The All India Council of Technology (AICTE) has said that students do not have to study Mathematics and Chemistry in Plus Two classes to join some engineering courses.

Generally, marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry Plus 2 will be taken into account for admission to engineering courses. The rank list will be published based on the ‘cut off’ marks obtained in these subjects. In addition, these subjects were important in some engineering courses. In this context, the All India Council of Technology (AICTE) has announced that from this academic year (2022-23) some BE courses will not require Mathematics and Chemistry.

Accordingly, it has been reported that mathematics is not compulsory for most BE courses and chemistry is not compulsory in Plus Two classes for admission to Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering courses. This is stated in the new guidelines for the academic year 2022-2023 released by AICTE.
