It could be a biopic

It is being built by JJ Abrams under the umbrella of his production company Bad Robot. It has recently produced action films such as “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” or “Star Trek”. Anthony McCarton, who previously wrote the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, wrote the screenplay. These actors allow the assumption that the U2 series could be a cinematic biography.

As the series is still in the early stages of development, it is not yet clear when it will be released. On the Irish website Joe.ie The manufacturers have already suggested that it could be completed in 2026 to celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary.

There have already been cinematic encounters with the band, for example about the production of the U2 album “Achtung, Baby” from the Irish comedy film “Killing Bono” or the documentary “From the Sky Down”. There is also the concert film “Rattle and Hum” from 1988 and other short documentaries. However, there has not yet been a large-scale series dealing with the history of musicians.
