The year of the CSIO Show Jumping Nations Cup kicks off in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). The German team, consisting of David Will, Nicola Paul (both Marburg), Jഗ്rg Nave and Miriam Schneider (both Bowen), finished fourth. The four riders from Ireland were better winners than the second-placed hosts.
There were no plans to send a German team to Abu Dhabi for the Nations Cup. Since there were four active players in the five-star tournament anyway, the organizers decided to invite the quarterfinals as an extra team to the Nations Cup. Seven teams competed in the first showdown this year.
David Will is the best player with two clear rounds
The first round made it clear that it would not be easy for the German delegation. Irish team in own class
The Irish were in a class of their own. The team, consisting of two brothers Shane, Trevor Breen, Jack Ryan and David Simpson, finished the Nations Cup without a penalty, while Ryan and Simpson ran double clear rounds, giving the result the Breams rejected with four penalties. Riders from the host nation, the United Arab Emirates, were also surprisingly strong. Only four penalties were intended for second place. The British scored the third best result (21 wrong points). Saudi Arabia (48) and Jordan (40) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. The team is out of Syria.
