JERUSALEM – Former Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu Discusses a petition to escape from prison and end his corruption trial. According to a spokesman for the Ministry of Justice Israel The two sources involved in the discussion are that the court may announce the terms before the end of the month.

Bargaining involves confession, and in some cases, instead of reducing the severity of the charges, it can mean a sentence of community service.

Netanyahu has been charged with three counts of treason, breach of trust and one count of bribery. He denies all the allegations. The deal is being pursued on charges of “moral breakdown” that barred the former prime minister from holding political office for seven years under Israeli law.

A final deal would save Netanyahu from a lengthy and embarrassing trial that would focus the country’s attention and tarnish his legacy. A Netanyahu spokesman declined to comment.

The accusation of “moral breakdown” goes far beyond Netanyahu’s promise to return to government after his 12 – year term ended last year against a coalition of dissenting parties that is generally opposed to the former prime minister.

However he acknowledged that their numbers were not enough to defeat Netanyahu’s government. He looks about 80 years old./ Reuters e AP
