Girl charged in strike-and-operate at Indiana protest that hurt two

An Indiana female accused of driviving into demonstrators protesting the alleged attempted lynching of a black man has been billed, authorities mentioned.

Christi Bennett, 66, of Scottsburg, was charged Thursday with two counts of felony recklessness and two counts of leaving the scene of an incident. She was arrested Wednesday at a motel and refused to deliver a assertion to cops, Bloomington police claimed.

Footage posted to Twitter confirmed a pink Toyota Corolla, allegedly driven by Bennett, hanging two protesters late Monday around the Monroe County Courthouse, in which demonstrators had been reportedly demanding arrests of various folks who allegedly attacked Vauhxx Rush Booker around Lake Monroe on July 4.

Two people were being harm throughout the incident, which includes Chasity Mottinger, 29, who was knocked unconscious as she was introduced on to the Corolla’s hood, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Geoff Stewart, 35, who was holding onto the car as it sped off, said the driver revved her automobile into the group following she was asked to roll down her window.

“Someone requested exactly where she was attempting to go,” Stewart, who was remaining with cuts and bruises, advised the Indianapolis Star. “I did not listen to her response, but the individual chatting to her reported, ‘If you wait around just a moment, you will be ready to go via once every person has cleared out.”

But Bennett then drove into Mottinger and Stewart, he informed the outlet.

Bennett has given that been introduced on $500 bond, a “slap on the wrist,” Stewart informed the newspaper.

“She desires to be in jail since she has not realized from her violent acts and was unwilling to be fair when approached calmly,” Stewart stated.
