What did you discover about yourself through painting?

Lena Stollinger: After all, what I thought I knew about painting was not true. I always had a special talent in drawing, but I found that painting was very different. You no longer work with lines, but with surfaces, the approach depends on whether you work with acrylic or oil paint. Of course you can start painting at any time, but due to lack of technical knowledge I have reached a limit where my ability to express myself on canvas is not enough. So I had to start painting again like a craft that I could really learn. In the beginning I drew portraits, landscapes and water, created color combinations and considered ideas. A few months ago I was streaming the Netflix series “The Queen’s Gambit” in which I was reminded of a quote from the main character Beth Hormone just before the World Cup: “I have to train every day. At least eight hours a day. “The same goes for me: painting is a full-time job, and you should never stop studying.
