They attend a Christmas party and get sick: Kovid positive for about 70 Spanish doctors.

According to reports from the BBC, at least 68 doctors have arrived in Kovid after attending a Christmas party in southern Spain. Local authorities made this clear. Mostly doctors and nurses working in the intensive care unit of a local hospital in Malaga, Andalusia.

Health officials said the party was attended by about 170 people last Wednesday. All guests submitted negative antigen tests before the event, but more than half are now in isolation. Immunizations are given to infected people and show no symptoms.

The situation created an emergency in the intensive care unit where staff work, so doctors and nurses from other clinics were called back.

The omicron variant and the spread of the epidemic have raised concerns about the possibility of Kovid spreading at social events during the Christmas period. In fact, in order to limit this risk, Andalusian health authorities advised hospital staff not to attend Christmas holidays. The appeal ended in a vacuum, apparently.

Last Monday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called on the people to be extra vigilant during the holidays. “We do not stand guard,” he told reporters in the capital, Madrid.
