An Ardag can factory in Northern Ireland

Published on

Ardag Metal Production (AMP), the metal packaging arm of the Irish-based Ardag Group, has announced a $ 200 million investment in the construction of a can plant in Northern Ireland (UK). The group said the new unit, located at Global Point near Belfast, will cater to the growing needs of the company’s customers in Ireland, the UK and Europe. It is part of the company’s multi-billion dollar investment program to expand metal packaging production capacity in Europe, North America and Brazil. According to AMP, metal cans are the world’s most recycled beverage packaging, thus supporting the circular economy. The plant will be operational by 2023. For the time being, the project is in the “pre-planning” stage and is being coordinated with local partners. Its capacity and size have not yet been announced.

Ardag metal packaging operates 23 factories in Europe, the United States and Brazil, employs about 5,000 people and has sales of $ 3.5 billion by 2020. 75% of the company is owned by the Ardag Group and listed on the New York Stock Exchange (United States).
