Security transports the dead in meat trucks

At the start of the trial on Saturday, Robert Haynes, a professor of international humanitarian law at Leiden University, presented a report on his investigation into what had happened, pointing out that “crimes against humanity” had taken place during those protests.

Haynes said the investigation revealed that the Iranian National Security Council had issued a public order to provincial security councils to shoot protesters directly, a public order that did not mention specific locations or issues, according to the Iran International website. .

In addition, an investigation by Leiden University added that nine top officials were involved in the killing of the protesters, indicating that they should be held accountable.

Arrest and torture

On his part, Sohail Abdi, one of the witnesses, confirmed that he had left Iran after posting a video of the shooting on the Internet, alleging that security forces had arrested and tortured his father.

Fearing arrest, he went to a private doctor after the shooting, adding that he had undergone surgery at home and that about 40 of the injured had called the same doctor.

Abdi was quoted by hospital staff as saying that security forces were transporting the dead in meat trucks to the city of Kahurisik.

It is noteworthy that the court began its daily sessions, last Wednesday, in London, and will continue until tomorrow and Sunday.

The court aims to investigate the killings and torture of people during the November 2019 protests and examine the statements of 45 witnesses against more than 130 officials of the Iranian government, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Ibrahim Raisi.
