The Ministry of Energy has assessed the possibility of Russia switching to the use of renewable energy sources, especially solar panels. As an incentive, the authorities want to subsidize the purchase of equipment from local manufacturers, the report said. Izvestia.

The department is discussing achieving the micro-generation capacity indicator of up to 1 gigawatt by 2030. For about 100,000 households, the proposal is to use solar energy as “the most flexible but easiest solution to install.” The Solar Energy Enterprises Association estimates that the value will reach 23 megawatts by the end of 2021 – 40 times more than the Ministry of Energy plans.

According to experts, the country will be able to achieve planned indicators in a number of cases, including reduction in equipment prices, increase in tariffs on grid electricity and increase in loans from banks. However, widespread use of solar panels can be costly. Analysts estimate that the cost of equipment for 100 thousand homes is 30-35 billion rubles.

However, some experts have not evaluated the possible conversion to energy sources. Among the problems, they pointed out the peculiarities of the country’s climate and the low development of the technical base. “Citizens will be forced to spend large sums of money that will not be repaid, or it will require large expenditures from the budget,” said Vladislav Osorin, deputy chairman of the Scientific Council of the Federation Council Working Group.
