Rover Perseverance has already recorded five hours of noise from Mars. The space agency released new episodes this week.

The two microphones on the six-wheeled vehicle add a new dimension to the way scientists and engineers explore the planet. Thanks to both microphones, the mission winds up on Mars, and the sound of interestingly drawn engines or how the gravel crashes under the rover’s wheels.

“It’s like you’re really standing there,” said Baptiste Chid, a planetary scientist at the Research Institute of Astrophysics and Planetology in Toulouse, France, who studies data from those microphones, according to the NASA website.

“The sounds of Mars show strong bass vibrations, so when you wear your headphones, you really feel it,” he added.

In March, NASA released the first samples of sound made by the Perseverance Explorer as it orbited the surface of Mars.

As NASA writes, these commercial microphones are similar to those of the Perseverance Rover.

Rover Perseverance landed in Crater on Tuesday, February 18th. No audio recording of the landing. However, NASA later released a short audio recording that was fixed after landing. There was a loud noise of the rover’s instruments, and the wind was blowing on the surface of the planet in the background.

The vehicle’s task is to search for the remains of ancient microbes, but to do work related to the preparation of future trips to Mars.

Life on the planet may have existed 3.7 billion years ago

The planet’s crater lake is now an empty frozen desert. However, thanks to the study of current photographs of the investigation, scientists believe that the area was flooded with water 3.7 billion years ago and may contain life.
