Irish privacy lawyers are investigating Tick Tock

Published on

Irish privacy lawyers are investigating two cases against Chinese short video service Tick Tock. On the one hand is the processing of personal data of children and adolescents and on the other hand the transfer of consumer information to China, the Irish Data Protection Authority DPC said. Since Tic Tac Toe is headquartered in Dublin, DPC is responsible for data protection issues.

In August, Tic Tac Toe imposed strict restrictions on young people and responded to criticism that the Bytdance Subsidiary was badly protecting children from hidden advertisements and inappropriate content. Tic Tac Toe is especially popular among young people and is known around the world for its users’ dance breaks. A company spokesman said on Wednesday that Tic Tac Toe has imposed extensive rules and regulations to protect customer data.

DPC can be fined up to four per cent of global company sales. WhatsApp, a Facebook subsidiary, was fined a record 5 225 million in early September for lack of transparency in the transfer of personal data, but the authority has been criticized for being too slow and punishable. Very gentle.
