Nicholas Roche is retiring from Pelton after 17 years

Irish runner Nicholas Roche retires at 37 He was later on the DSM team, and his last match was the Irish Championship last Sunday.

He now works for Trinity Sport Management Company, led by his agent Andrew McVeigh. Nicholas Roche, who has spent 17 years at Peloton, has 12 wins (including two stages at Vulta).

He has participated in 25 grand tours (including 11 Tour de France) and has only given up twice (once in Vulta and once in Zero).

Nicholas Roche: “After 17 years and more than 1270 days of professional racing, with a lot of good memories, it’s time for me to retire and look at new horizons.

My last race was the Irish Championship, at home, with my friends and family.

Cycling has been my life and it has given me so much over the years. It made it possible to meet and work with amazing people and to travel to some of the most remote and amazing places on the planet.

It was an experience working with the DSM team, which was very different from any team in the past. I continued to learn a lot from them, and I really enjoyed being the “big brother” to the younger ones on the team.

Spending four more days in the red jersey in La Vulta in 2019 will always be a special memory. I would like to thank everyone who reads this for the incredible support I have received in my cycling career.

Thanks!”
