Cristiano Ronaldo has been named in the Premier League’s September Player of the Month list.
The 36-year-old’s inclusion comes in the first month of England’s top flight, where he made an immediate impact with three league goals — including two in his debut against Newcastle.
Ronaldo, who returned to Old Trafford from Juventus in August, also scored in United’s 2-1 victory at West Ham on 19 September.
He is one of six players vying for the award, along with fellow Manchester City defender Joao Concelo, Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger, Newcastle’s Alan Saint-Maximin, Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah and Watford’s Ismail Sar.
Fans are encouraged to attend and pick a winner via the EA Sports website, Monday afternoon, October 4th.
However, Ronaldo’s scoring exploits are not limited to the Premier League, with the Portuguese scoring two goals in two Champions League games so far this season, including a late win against Villarreal on Wednesday.
His latest contribution to the victory allowed Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar to praise Soulsjെയr after the game.
“He’s done it many times,” Soulshair said of Ronaldo. “When you saw him against the Republic of Ireland a few weeks ago [for Portugal], He missed an early penalty, did not touch the ball more or less, and then scored two stunning heads in the final two minutes.
That is what he has been doing throughout his career. He is very strong mentally. He continues to play, and today I see him all day, how he built himself for this game, how much focus he has on the opportunity.
He’s very good in front of the goal, he influences everyone – the crowd, the players, everyone. “
