Brexit: Boundary restrictions postponed

The British government is postponing their implementation until mid-2022 to avoid a severe shortage.

Restoring border control is one of the Brexiters’ mantras. Five years after the referendum, its implementation is dragging on. London delays enforcement of restrictions for third time Boris Johnson, who faces multiple announcements of delivery difficulties and shortages, wants to avoid more confusing scenes during Christmas.

If a few days ago the British government unilaterally lifted the moratorium on restrictions on Northern Ireland from England, in clear violation of the Northern Ireland protocol contained in the withdrawal agreement from the Union, it now decides to extend border flexibility for products from the European Union.
