Golf – European Tour – Billy Horschel wins at Wentworth

At the end of the suspense, Billy Horschel won the BMW PGA Championship. He is the second American to win at Wentworth after 46 years for Arnold Palmer. This was strict until the final iron attack of this final round of the BWX PGA Championship. On the Wentworth course, many were able to get a few holes from the end, but eventually Billy Horschel won at 19 (65 -7 thanks to a magnificent card that eliminates him from the playoffs. They won their second tournament of the season, trailing the playoffs by a small margin of 3, and the leader of the first two days, Kidarech Afiburnrath, may regret his third round of +2, as well as Lori Cantor and Jamie Donaldson, who returned 67 and 66 cards, respectively, on this final day.

Outside of Shane Lori Shane Lori needs a top 8 to reach the rider cup points. Unfortunately the Irishman lost the boat in this final round, finishing 17th on his worst card-12 of the week. So it was Bernd Weissberger and Lee Westwood who automatically qualified for the European team.

With the last card of Levy’s best French 66 (-6), Alexander Levy took a better overall ranking and became the best Frenchman in the tournament. 45 to -7, two strokes ahead of Victor Perez, he may make some regrets. The Turbans had to finish on stage for a chance to join the European team, but could never achieve this goal this week. Behind him, Robin Russell is ranked 63rd out of 23, while Antoine Rossner and Joel Stolter are ranked 1st out of 67. Read more All golf news
