Combines Sputnik, AstraZeneca and Modena vaccines for Argentine Kovid

Health Minister Carla Visotti has announced that vaccines from Argentine AstraZeneca and modern laboratories will be used as the second dose to complete the Kovid-19 immunization among Sputnik V recipients.

“The initial results of an interim analysis on security and resilience are satisfactory and encouraging,” the minister said.

Sputnik V was the first Kovid-19 vaccine to reach Argentina in December 2020. Eight months later, the second dose is low Delta variant, Very contagious.

Given the potential risk, the government has set a target of reaching at least 60% of the population over the age of 50 by the end of August with a complete vaccination schedule. To meet this, the minister said 2.3 million doses are needed.

As of this Wednesday, 25.5 million people (56.6% of the population) had received at least the first dose, of which 7.5 million (16.6%) were within the complete framework.

Richmond, a private laboratory in Argentina, has promised to deliver about 3 million doses of Sputnik V before the end of the month, after passing its first samples of quality control.

Argentina has recorded about five million infections and more than 106,700 deaths since the outbreak.
