According to Elon Musk, Starlink has already crossed the 90,000 user mark

The StarLink satellite Internet service offered by SpaceX has already surpassed the mark of 90,000 users, the company’s investors said at a conference attended by its CEO Elon Musk.

The brand deserves to be celebrated, given Starlink’s significant growth this year: those 90,000 users were only 10,000 in February 2021, and approximately 65,000 in June.

The Starlink platform, originally launched into orbit in 2019, is a cluster of satellites installed by SpaceX in orbit. In total, the company has already installed 1,740 units, of which 1,629 are operational and 1,336 are fully operational.

During the conference, Musk took advantage of the opportunity to reassure his investors that a new generation of satellites should be launched “soon” using more sophisticated and comprehensive technology, which would allow the service to reach more people and countries. The CEO said that SpaceX’s new generation spacecraft – Starship – will be used for these launches, but is not committed to an exact date.

Currently, the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is being used to launch Starlink satellites. Each rocket can carry up to 60 satellites per flight, but if SpaceX adopts starship as its mode of transport, that number could expand to about 400 units. However, as the suborbital vessel is still under development, this may take some time.

Today, the Starlink service is in public beta in 11 countries (US, Canada, UK, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, France, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark); Closed inspections in two (Ireland and Chile); Finally, in October 2021, Mexico is in the planning stage.
