Euro-News met with President Ursula von Der Layk as part of the G7 in the United Kingdom on these issues: the need for a united front in the relations between China and Russia, and finally the compliance with the Brexit protocol on Brexit protocol, which ignores the question of Northern Ireland.

A new season of faith

“Believe in the G7 returns. We share the same perspectives, we share the same interests and the same values, and we are determined to take on our responsibility to shape the transformation we face for a greener, more digital community and economy. Basics – Ursula von Der Lane agrees in front of Euro News cameras.

– But what about China … You announce a competitive infrastructure project between the G7 countries to compete with the Chinese venture Belt and road It has been implemented in North Africa, Latin America and beyond to test and establish their products. Can you tell me exactly what it is, do we want to oppose China? Asked our correspondent Jack Parrock.

“We seriously discuss the importance of this connectivity initiative to ensure we have the best and most convincing model – as a demonstration of the G7’s greatest economic power – it is important to convince our partners: it is investing with us without rivals and restrictions like the Chinese”: von der Lane responds.

– We are in the United Kingdom – Parrock points out – There is still a significant dispute between the British government and the European Union over the Northern Ireland dossier, which obscures some of the discussions that took place here. To what extent can the Union avoid convincing British partners to stick to the agreement to find new solutions?

“The basis for the Good Friday Agreement is peace and stability on the island of Ireland. We have shown a great deal of flexibility. We must move forward, “concludes Ursula von der Lane.
