Italian Alberto Bettiol (EF Education) won the 18th round of the Italian tournament, the longest event of 231 km, on Thursday in Stradella (north).

Bettiol left his teammates on the river that split in the final, which was more than 23 minutes ahead of Pelotone and Colombian Egan Bernell (Inios) in a pink jersey.

The Italian, the surprise winner of the Tour of Flanders 2019, outscored his teammate Simon Conzoni by fifteen seconds ahead of Irishman Nicolas Roche.

In the transition between Trentino and Lombardy, 23 riders split in the first hour of the race. Valison Simon Pellad was one of them. He finally made his way to the end of the stage where four difficulties awaited the riders. Pellow finished 13th, 1’34 ” behind Bettiol.

Phase 19 avoids a motorcycle climb on Friday in honor of those killed in a cable car crash at the site last Sunday. However, most of the trail between Abbiattegrazo and the Alp de Mera (166 km) ends at 9.7 km, with an average slope of 9%.
