Dublin not hosting the Football – Euro 2020 match

UEFA Executive Committee (Editor’s note: European football bodies) The meeting convened today to discuss the fate of three host cities (Dublin, Bilbao and Munich) that could not guarantee spectators access to the finals of Euro 2020.Editor’s note: Moved to 2021 due to pandemic) After confirming the ability of the other nine host cities to reach at least 25% of the general audience.

Three Group E matches against Slovakia, Sweden and Poland have been moved to St. Petersburg, Russia. The 16th round, which was to take place in the Irish capital, will now take place at Wembley Stadium in London.

Minister of State for Sports Jack Chambers confirmed to RTE: “We are disappointed that this is happening, but we need to be honest about what’s possible during this epidemic. We will see spectators returning to the games. This summer, securing 11,000 spectators in June is unrealistic.

Considered a good venue for future UEFA events, Bilbao would like to thank and thank the cities of Dublin – UEFA for their commitment to the national and local governments of Spain and the Republic of Ireland, and to all local partners for their dedication, professionalism and recent years, ”UEFA said in a statement.
