On Monday, March 19, Frank Rister, Minister of Foreign Trade and Attractions of Europe, will meet with the Deputy Prime Minister and Irish Minister of Commerce, Leo Varadkar.

Following Brexit, France became Ireland’s closest geographical neighbor within the Union, and this interview is part of a sustainable range of political dialogue and a general desire to develop economic and trade relations between our two countries.

Frank Rister and Leo Varadkar will discuss the priority areas of our bilateral roadmap, digital, sustainable cities and renewable energy, with the possibility of adopting a joint action plan, the principle of which was agreed upon on 3 December 2020 between Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister of Defense and Irish Foreign and European Affairs. Cowney.

This interview will provide an opportunity to discuss the implications for travelers from France to Ireland following the imposition of a embargo by the Irish authorities and to take stock of the implementation of the Northern Irish Protocol following the unilateral British decision to extend the grace period. Applicable until October 1 for certain goods from the United Kingdom to Northern Ireland. The ministers will exchange views on key trade issues such as Atlantic trade, relations between the European Union and China, or the draft EU-Mercosur agreement.
