Hurling fans are urged to enjoy the last day of All-Ireland in accordance with the Kovid-19 guidelines.
Today’s match between Limerick and Waterford takes place behind closed doors at Croke Park, discouraging fans from coming together to watch the action, celebrate or communicate later.
Covid-19 will not take a day off during sports, says Limerick TD and state minister Niall Collins.
“At the end of the day, the message we need to send to people is to enjoy the competition and to win or lose by fully complying with public health guidelines.
“We ask people to be prudent and avoid excessive settings. We have done a lot to defeat and suppress the virus, so we can try to avoid further lockdowns.”
The GAA’s decision to suspend the cup after this year’s All-Ireland final has prompted spectators to gather in celebration of the silverware being brought to the winning country.
After Mayo’s Nestor Cup victory, Aiden Ozia criticized Mayo’s decision as “above”, but he acknowledged the logic behind the decision, adding that it was important to follow the rules.
The final throw-in will be broadcast today at 3.30pm on RTÉ and Sky Sports.
