Queen Elizabeth II mourns the recent death of one of her dogs, Volkon, a Corgi-Dutch mixture.
Vulcan died at the age of 13 in Windsor Castle, England Daily Mail Yesterday, Dec. 3. At least Queen Vulcan has been cared for since 2007.
Vulcan was already old but the cause of death remained unknown. Following Vulcan’s loss, the Queen is now left with one last dog, and another Corgi-Dutch mix called Candy.
“Her majesty adores her dogs, which is always a blow, especially now,” a source said.
The Queen has always loved dogs, especially Corgis. Her pets often lift her tail as she walks around the castle and visits other estates.
When she was just 18, she got Susan, her first cousin, and continued to raise dogs from Susan’s line for years. However, Susan’s last line, Willow, died in April 2018.
Vulcan and Candy come from a line of Corgi-Dachshund mixes. Crossbreeding was introduced to the royal family when Princess Margaret’s Dutchman Pipkin mated with Queen Corgius.
Aside from Vulcan, British royal princes William and Duchess Catherine lost their 9-year-old dog Lupo last month.
The tragic loss comes just days before the king leaves her traditional family Christmas following the COVID-19 crisis. Instead of spending the holidays at the Sandringham Estate in the east of England, she and her husband, Prince Philip, live in Windsor Castle. Ryan Arcadio /Out
