Infections increased as more than one million new corona virus cases were reported each day in states across the US.
More than 102,800 cases were reported in the country on Wednesday, according to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University. More than 99,000 cases were surpassed by October 30th. The number of confirmed cases in the US is 9.5 million.
Daily infections have been reported in several states, including Indiana, Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado, and Idaho. Pennsylvania reported 2,800 new cases for the third day in a row after setting a record on Tuesday.
The country’s seven-day moving average of newly reported cases helping to resolve data irregularities rose to 89,859 on Wednesday, the latest in a record high. The 14-day moving average was 81,985. If the seven-day average from October 5 is higher than the 14-day average, this indicates an increase in cases.
Similar to the boom the country has seen in the spring and summer, the rising number of cases nationally is causing an increase in hospitals. More than 52,000 people are currently hospitalized in the US due to Kovid-19. This is the highest number since August 6. For the second day in a row, the Kovid Tracking Project says this is the first of 50,000.
More than a thousand deaths were reported on Wednesday for the second day in a row from Kovid-19. Jones Hopkins said the death toll was slightly lower than the 1,100 deaths reported on Tuesday, but higher than the 991 deaths reported a week earlier. The death toll rose to 234,000.
