EFL clubs fear they will be forced to cancel indoor screenings in the latest hammer blow to fans.

Last week Middlesbrough tried an event, where staff could see their competition with readings on the riverside, but only in hospitable areas in an attempt to raise some money.

Watford, Norwich and Millwall are all set to do this with a “beam back” for fans in their stadiums who socially distance themselves from away games and watch TV screens in corporate or bar areas.

However, the clubs told Mirror Sport that they feared further action and trials would have to be canceled.

Clubs have been warned that the use of hospitality areas on sports grounds will be an “organized event” outside the hospitality guidelines.

DCMS Guidelines “Do not dine or dine privately outside a private restaurant or pub setting.”

This is another hammer for clubs that are already facing financial problems, as all test and pilot events have been canceled indefinitely as fans are not allowed into the games.

The EFL and the Premier League are campaigning to bring fans back to the stadiums under strict supervision, despite increased protocols due to an increase in corona virus infection.

The “Beam Back Option” and the same guidelines for pubs and bars allowed clubs to see fans from hospitality areas, as well as a lifeline and potential lifeline.

Said a source Mirror Sport: “Clubs are already canceling events, which is another blow to clubs that already want money, and want to bring fans back to the stadiums.”

MirrorSport unveiled the “Beam Back” initiative by EFL clubs last weekend. It got a lot of pickup and interest with fans wanting to return to the grounds.

DCMS, Department of Culture, Media and Sports discussed the Beam Back Events with the Sports Ground Safety Authority.

However, a DCMS spokesman told Mirror Sport that no final decision had been made.
