West Bromwich Albion and Burnley drew 0-0 in a 0-0 draw in the Premier League on Monday.

It was the first goalless draw of the top flight of the season, with neither team making any gains in a clear attempt to advance from the knockout zone.

The result put West Brom seventeenth with two points from five games, and Burnley fourth with eighth after eighth-place performance.

West Brom coach Slaven Bilick was disappointed with the result, however he praised his side and admitted that a part of the robbery was a fair result.

“I told them after the game that we were looking for three points, but they had to develop it,” he told Croatian Sky Sports.

“We created a few chances, more than a score. They also had a fair couple. A draw was probably a fair result.

“We know these are games – I have a lot of respect for Burnley – you really have to win there, or at least not lose. We have to win games like this if we want to keep going.”

In the first half, striker Carlan Grant fired a shot over the bar in the 18th minute for West Brom, but could not concede a goal for the offside in the 37th minute.

West Brom came close again in the 58th minute when visitor keeper Nick Pope fired a Grady Diancana shot, which was blocked by a defender Branislav Ivanovic.

Chris Wood then hit Burnley’s crossbar twice, but Ashley Westwood failed to convert the cross.

West Brom missed their last chance of the game in the 78th minute when Pope made an acrobatic save to get Mathews Pereira out of the volley close range.

Burnley manager Sean Dych was also unable to come out with a win.

“We would have got three points for the level of opportunities we got,” he said.

“It was a weird game, Bourne had a (chance), and then we deserved a penalty. I think the quality of the chances was great, but we didn’t take them.”
