Double European Champion. Double World Champion.

This is a difficult time for Sanitha Puspur, and Irish Rover is embracing the growing expectations of her progress.

The 38-year-old successfully defended her women’s singles title at the European Rowing Championships in Poland. Ireland also won bronze medals in the other three events.

Puspur finished second after 500m as Magdalena Lobnig of Austria captured the first project, but took over at half-time and faced Lobnig’s challenge from the final 1000m.

“It’s really awesome. Every time you go out there’s more and more hope to continue that winning streak,” she said.

“I’m so happy to be doing this for the fourth time now. I’m so happy.”

The Latvian-born athlete says his run to the championship has been short-lived and that they need it.

“Mentally, I’m very comfortable. I had three weeks off. I met my family, mom and nieces.

There was a little bit of pressure on the Europeans as we only had six or seven weeks of training.

Puspur admitted that he had reserved something in the first round and that the final race strategy was according to plan.

She also thanked many of her returning supporters for encouraging her to achieve more.
