Covid-19 cases are rising sharply in the borough

Published on

The borough has seen the largest increase in positive cases of corona virus in the county.

The latest figures show that 54 more people tested positive for Kovid-19 in Cumbria.

The highest increase in cases was 18 in the borough and 11 in the South Lakeland.

There has been an increase in the number of positive testing people in all regions of Cumbria – the total number of cases since the onset of the pandemic has risen to 3,678.

Two deaths from the virus have also been reported at the University Hospitals of Morecombe Bay NHSF Foundation Foundation – including the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and the Furnace General Hospital in the borough.

One occurred on October 1, and the second patient died the following day, October 2.

The new figures come after Cumbria authorities advised people to keep a maximum of two houses together for six people.

This is an extension of the recommendations made for Barrow two weeks ago.

Nationally, the borough continues to be a ‘zone of concern’ for the corona virus.

Furnace MP Simon Fell warned that the area would be subject to a local lockdown within a week or two if the cases continue to spiral.

Colin Cox, director of public health in Carobria, explained Thursday: “The number of Covid-19 cases in the county has doubled in a week, and hospital admissions are on the rise.

“But we have not yet reached the position of the Northwest Territories, and we have a small chance to slow down the expansion, protect our communities and the local economy and not be the next area of the local lockdown.

We know that limiting contact between employees will reduce broadcasting.

“There is no legal force behind the ‘two-employee’ advice we give today, but we urge everyone living in Cumbria to take it seriously and act accordingly.

“It’s about taking action, proportionately, local people who are responsible for protecting themselves, their families and communities from this disease.”

Mr Cox added that Kovid-19 was spreading across the country at an ‘increasing speed’ following the same pattern as the first wave of the virus.

Following ‘two-employee’ advice, along with hand-washing, face-covering and social distance, can make a difference, but everyone needs to be careful, ”he told staff.
