For the first time since the onset of pandemic, German health authorities have registered more than 236,000 new daily infections from Kovid-19. In the last 24 hours, there have been 236,120 infections and 164 deaths, up from 10,422,764 and 118.334, respectively, according to the Robert Koch Institute (Rki), the government agency for the control of infectious diseases, on its website.

The number of cases reported on Wednesday, with 208,498 infections confirmed by authorities, is higher than the previous record. This is the third time that more than 200,000 positives have been confirmed in the country in a day. Rki said there were 1,283.2 cases per 100,000 residents in the last seven days and 1,067,031 positive cases last week. The second indicator crossed one million cases on Tuesday, the first since the pandemic began.

According to data from the Robert Koch Institute, there are currently about 2,435,300 active cases, while the number of people recovering from Kovid-19 is estimated at about 7,869,200, including 79,600 cures in the last 24 hours. Therefore, German government spokesman Stephen Hebstreet said on Monday that it was too early to begin deregulation.
