The Under-19 women’s selection defeated Greece (3-0) on Wednesday to begin the second qualifying round of the 2022 European Championships. The next meeting is against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday.
First in their group in the first round, Sandrine Ringler’s players began the second round of qualifying for the 2022 European U19 Women’s Championship on Wednesday afternoon. This second round takes place in the Czech Republic, the host country of the final round. June 27 to July 9.
The Blues opened the points counter with an inaugural victory over Greece (3-0). Their victory was quickly shaped by the early opener of Vicky Becho (1-0, 13th) served by captain Serial Blanc. In the second half, Irene Fontaine doubled their lead (2-0, 53) and increased the lead to Mancita Troy (3-0, 90).
The next meeting is on Saturday, April 9, still in Ostrava, against the Republic of Ireland, defeating the Czech Republic by Emma Doherty’s double (2-0).
In Group 7 to qualify, the Czechs had no choice but to finish first or second in their group if the Czechs won first place.
