Will Elon Muscas keep his promise to increase StarLink’s internet speeds to 1 Gbps?

Elonas Muscas claims that StarLink will deliver 1 Gbps internet speed, although recent reports show an average download rate of 110 megabytes per second (Mbps) and an upload speed of 20 Mbps, which is still far from 1 Gbps. E. to get 1 Gbps. Will Moscow’s promise really be fulfilled?

2019 Elon Moscow’s SpaceX promises to offer high speed internet up to 1 Gbps – 10 Gbps at 10% of the maximum theoretical speed of 5G. The 2016 companies report that “once fully optimized during final deployment, the system can provide high bandwidth (up to 1 Gbps per user) and low latency broadband services to customers and businesses in the United States and around the world.”

After initial beta testing, Starlink’s internet upload speeds ranged from 5 Mbps to 18 Mbps and delays ranged from 31 ms to 94 ms. Naturally, for these early small numbers, the number of satellites launched by SpaceX in 2019 may be small. 600 of them were in the middle.

Later, when Better Better launched Starlink’s Better, early users read 99/499 (41 424) per month for receiver hardware, $ 99 (€ 82) per month for Starlink service, and the subrofit forum r / Starlink.

However, SpaceX made little mention of the Lifeline plan, which costs $ 9.25 per month for broadband internet and $ 5.25 per month for telephone service.

At an altitude of about 547 km, the SpaceX satellites outperform traditional Internet capabilities in rural areas, with outdated DSL connections up to and including wireless 3G. With geosynchronous orbits at an altitude of 35,785 km, the older generation of Internet satellites in rural areas also lag behind satellite broadband.

“I’m happier,” said Lee Phillips, a software developer based in Kilowana, British Columbia. With an average internet download speed of 110 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload, Philips said he has enough speed at home with two parents working “without moderate video streaming and gaming”.

This year it was February 22. In 2021 Musk claimed. Starlink speeds will be doubled to 300 Mbps, and delays will be reduced to 20 Mbps. Although feedback has become more positive in recent months, the company still has room for improvement.

The main success of Starlink is the delay or “ping time” of how quickly a bit of information can be sent and received to the site. SpeedTest rated Starlink’s delay at an average of 41 ms, but Philips’ analysis shows that Internet service has a delay of 29 ms. This is quite different from traditional satellites, which can have a delay of 600 ms or more – games and many other applications less than possible.

SpaceX is likely to replace Starlink Internet, which offers the high speeds and delays seen in urban centers, such as parts of New York and some states. Elon Musk may not be able to offer 1 Gbps until the set of Internet satellites is complete, but we should expect more satisfied customers this year as less geographical areas connect to the next generation Internet.
